Leonid Denysovych Kyzym was born on August 5, 1941, in the city of Lyman, Donetsk region
His first spaceflight was aboard the spacecraft «Soyuz T-3» as the spacecraft commander.
His second spaceflight was aboard the spacecraft «Soyuz T-10» as the spacecraft commander. The total duration of the second flight was 236 days 22 hours and 49 minutes, and the total time spent in open space was 22 hours 50 minutes.
His third flight was aboard the spacecraft «Soyuz T-15» as the spacecraft commander. The flight took place from March 13 to July 16, 1986. During the mission, he participated in work on the orbital stations «Salyut-7» and «Mir». The total duration of the third flight was 125 days and 56 seconds.
He retired in 2001. He died on June 14, 2010.
